Hello
Sarbari Chowdhury is a social worker, social entrepreneur, and an amatuer filmmaker and author, whose career bridges technology, culture, and community service. Currently Vice President at ServicePlace Inc., she previously worked at INTEL Corporation in the US developing software and processes for integrated circuits. After retiring from the corporate sector, she shifted her focus to the nonprofit world.

Sarbari runs multiple social projects in Assam and Bengal, including elder care, telemedicine, children's education and healthcare training. She is also a dedicated volunteer, working closely with survivors of domestic violence and underserved students in both India and the U.S.
Alongside her social advocacy, Sarbari is an active artist. She is the author of the short story collection Earthen Angels and has directed plays staged in cities across the United States, including Phoenix, Houston, Los Angeles, and San Jose. She has acted in films and served as Chairperson of the Film segment of the North American Bengali Conference for nearly a decade, while also leading community organizations such as the India Association of Phoenix and the Bengali Cultural Association of Arizona.

Her creative journey has culminated in filmmaking, with a focus on documenting endangered cultural traditions. Her debut documentary, Broto Alpona, explores women’s ritual art in Bengal, while her recent film, Saankha – Tradition or Fashion, examines the history and modern relevance of conch shell bangles. Through her award winning films, she seeks to preserve cultural heritage while questioning its place in the contemporary world.

Born in Jamshedpur and educated at Sacred Heart Convent School, Jamshedpur; Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow; Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi; Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra and Arizona State University, Sarbari now divides her time between Chandler, Arizona, USA and Kolkata, India, where she lives with her husband Debashis. She and her husband LOVE to travel. They have been to all 7 continents and more than 80 countries
My Story
My journey started in a loving, close-knit family where I excelled academically. At 16, I left home and formed enduring friendships throughout school and college. Living away from home for higher education built my independence and attending engineering school significantly shaped my career. After 25 years with Intel Corp, I took early retirement to pursue my passions for writing, art, and social service. I am thankful for my husband's unwavering support, my brother's encouragement, my children's understanding, and the values instilled in me by parents, as I now dedicate my time to giving back to society through working with victims of Domestic Violence and other social work, film, theater, and creative endeavors.
